The five goal areas in language learning also known as the 5 Cs (Communication, Culture, Connection, Comparison & Community) are the core of any good lesson plan. An effective lesson plan in language learning is the one which incorporate as many Cs as possible.

@ HLA we use this as our guideline and try to incorporate it through various hands-on activities . In the three classes comprising of our youngest age group Ganga, Yamuna and Kamal, kids had a blast making “ Delhi kii chaat”with Neetu ji, Preeti ji and Avani ji !! Beside the fun part they have also achieved these linguistic goals …

•Names of all ingredients in Hindi.

• Step by step process as how to make a Chaat.

•They learned sentence structures featuring sequence expressions like “pehle papdi lijiye”, uske baad tamatar daliye, “ phir ubla hua aloo daliye etc.

• learnt action verbs like katnaa, dhonaa, milaanaa etc.

• Practiced speaking about tastes with many examples like chutney chatpati hai, mirchi tikhi hai, gulaab jamun meetha hai etc.

•Learnt how different food tastes like meetha, tikhaa, khatta aur chatpata.
