Makar Sankranti Celebration

A little late post but @ HLA We believe good things needs to be shared sooner or later!! So here we are once again with a much awaited post about Makar Sankranti celebration and an amazing night of Indoor games of India!!

Our evening started with a carefully prepared presentation about the Makar Sankranti festivals of India, it was amazing to see that how this festival is a perfect example of “ Unity in Diversity”!! Called by different names like Uttrayan, Sankranti, BIHU, Lohri, Pongal etc they all are harvest festivals which is all about celebrating life and praying to Sun God without whom there is no life on earth. Not only kids but we also learnt a lot from that presentation!

After that there was no stopping kids to running to all the different game stations. They loved it more than we imagined, they enjoyed more than we hoped!! And that is such a good feeling to have!! Be it kanche or gutte or saanp seedhi or ludo or carrom board everyone tried everything … yet the most liked indoor game was carrom board!! We had an official demand for another night for carrom board which we intend to fulfill soon:)

Each class took rounds on a rotation basis. Not only kids but even adults loved it and tried their hands in games whenever they could 😉 Believe me no one wanted this evening to end!! But then it was important to had a reflection time on what we learned about the culture and language related to it. Though we couldn’t fly kite due to cold weather but we compensated it with indoor games of India.

And in the last we offered goody bags to kids and thanks to all our wonderful teachers and PTA members we had an amazing variety of food “ Makar Sankranti Special”. A big cheers to our amazing PTA members, couldn’t have been possible with your support and dedication!! THANK YOU!!

And I can keep writing about that night but let me just finish with this that after this event kids liked carrom board so much that one of the parents informed me that their kid actually bought it !! Now that’s what we would call a real impact and we hope to keep serving in this capacity for years to come!! Amen!
